Arthroclub is a private scientific non-profit group, acting since 2001 by a
nucleus of two arthroplasty interested surgeons, Timour
El-Husseini and Mahmoud El-Sebai, both professors in the department of
orthopaedic surgery, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt.
Egypt as many of the third world countries has variable arthroplasty practice
by virtue of economical, technical, social and cultural reasons, the message of
Arthroclub (Ain Shams Arthroplasty Club) is To Advance Arthroplasty Concepts in
Egypt.
This message is conveyed through quarterly public meetings, each consists of a
half day scientific event that contains instructional lectures on arthroplasty
and related topics, presenting basic aspects as well as updates and advanced
techniques to cover the whole subject every four years; special emphasis is
laid to couple updates to the reality of orthopaedic practice in the Egyptian
hospitals.
Each event invites members and visitors to present and discuss cases of special
interest or problems, attendants are also challenged by Arthroquiz which
presents questions related to the topics given and aims at stressing certain
points of knowledge through question and answer approach.
Each event also creates an atmosphere for surgeons from all over Egypt to find
a regular social gathering where they get to know each other on personal level
and exchange ideas through professional friendship.
All arthroclub events are sponsored by Sanofi-Aventis, and all arthroclub
events are supervised by the present Head of The Department of Orthopaedics,
Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Hussein El Khatib.
